This Month in Haikupedia — May 29, 2022

The Haiku Foundation welcomes you to Haikupedia!

This month, the editors of Haikupedia debut a cluster of articles for your perusal, including the short bios of Melissa Allen (American), LeRoy Gorman (Canadian), and Radka Mindova (Bulgarian). In a blast from the past, you’ll find new articles on the Haiku Headlines Rhyming Haiku Contest (1991) and the Timepieces Haiku Week-at-a-Glance Contests (1993-1997). Dip into 1999 and the activities at the 1st Annual New Mexico Haiku Festival held in Española, NM, as well as the fifth Haiku North America conference in Evanston, Illinois.

We welcome your feedback and involvement. If you have suggestions, comments, or note any errors, please contact the editors using the Haikupedia Contact Box. We look forward to reading your reactions to and ideas for this important project!

  1. Many thanks for all of the work that goes into making Haikupedia into such an important resource. I often link to Haikupedia chapters when compiling the THF Book of the Week articles.

  2. Thank you. I enjoyed the poems resulting from these contests 25-30 years ago; I couldn’t help but wonder how our contemporary haiku will look thirty years from now.

    1. Thanks, Keith! Glad you enjoyed reading through these. Yes, it *would* be interesting to know how our contemporary haiku will be viewed by future generations.
