THF Haiga Galleries: Haiga of Wendy C. Bialek

Wendy C. Bialek
The Haiku Foundation honors the work of contemporary masters of the dual art of haiga: visual image wedded to haiku. This month’s featured artist is Wendy C. Bialek.
Wendy carried an infinite basket of magical wands. Lover of nature and words of poetry inspired by Joyce Kilmer’s “Trees” she spent a youth painting and observational journaling in bed to get sleepy. At fifteen, a fully formed poem called ”We” came in a dream, she broke her sleep to jot it on a nearby tissue…it reemerged in her early thirties, took a prize and was published in the form of a bookmark. Wendy’s award winning paintings and photographs have appeared in galleries in NY, PBS TV, newspapers and international magazines. Wendy’s poetry, often illustrated with her inkings, appear in chapbooks, e-zines and journals.
