Estanislao “Stan” Rodriguez

The Haiku Foundation honors the work of contemporary masters of the dual art of haiga: visual image wedded to haiku. This month’s featured artist is Estanislao “Stan” Rodriguez.

Stan was born on August 1, 1945, in Utuado, Puerto Rico by God’s design — moved to San Francisco at the age of five where he attended school and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his tour of duty in Germany.

An Art Major, he continue dabbling into the arts : Painting, Drawing, Photography, all through his school years and into the business world, where he was introduced to the world of computers. This lead to Digiographs — computer generated art.

Started writing poetry in high school. His favorite poets are Frost and Poe. Also Kipling’s “If”, a piece that he has tried to emulate, throughout his life.

He has written several poetry manuscripts, five of which are self-published — Lovers and Other Strangers, Behind Closed Doors, Life’s Trilogy, Sliding Through Homo Sapiens and Coming Up with Answers and The Other Side of Paradise plus a book of haiga, Another Spring.
