Survey Says . . . THF Hard Copy Library

Every September the Board of Directors and Associates of The Haiku Foundation are sent a survey. Their responses help to guide our growth and direction. We’d like to broaden our input, and so we’ll be asking you to respond to a series of questions, one per week, over the next half-year. Your replies will be weighed in our assessment of our performance.

Today’s question: Hard Copy Library

The Haiku Foundation Library is growing at a considerable rate. Besides donations, Touchstone Distinguished Book Award submissions provide a copy of each volume for the library. Current volumes number more than 3000 discrete volumes, plus more than 200 second copies of major works, with more than a hundred volumes added per year. Outreach to living authors has also added substantially to our holdings. In addition, we feature special collections: the Cor van den Heuvel Haiku Library, the Susan Marie LaVallée Paul Reps Collection, and haiga collections from Ellen Peckham and Lidia Rozmus.

Please assess how well The Haiku Foundation is delivering on this topic. Indicate your assessment of our performance to date by choosing one of the options:

Excellent

Good

Fair

Poor

Abandon

Please feel free to add additional comments. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and for helping us make The Haiku Foundation a better resource.

  1. A great resource, but it will only become really useful when a larger proportion of those books have been scanned and placed online for all to enjoy. The Foundation is currently exploring prospects for grant money to make this happen more quickly. Expressions of support for this project from potential users greatly appreciated.
