Survey says . . . The Haiku Registry

Every September the Board of Directors and Associates of The Haiku Foundation are sent a survey. Their responses help to guide our growth and direction. We’d like to broaden our input, and so we’ll be asking you to respond to a series of questions, one per week, over the next half-year. Your replies will be weighed in our assessment of our performance.

Today’s question: Haiku Registry

The Haiku Registry contains more than 400 registrants, and contains biographical data, contact information and a selection of poems from each. It is overseen by Billie Wilson. Now that we have met the initial registration period of the bulk of interested poets, the updating of files is the most regular activity we see. The Haiku Registry can be found on the website.

Please assess how well The Haiku Foundation is delivering on this topic. Indicate your assessment of our performance to date by choosing one of the options:

Excellent

Good

Fair

Poor

Abandon

Please feel free to add additional comments. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and for helping us make The Haiku Foundation a better resource.

  1. You do do a lot of wonderful things for this community Billie!

    Thank you

    Sincerely,

  2. The Haiku Registry is one of the most important features of THF. It brings us the face and work of of poets we admire and may have known “by voice alone.” It will be an increasingly important resource in the future. Kudos to Billy!

  3. I love the Haiku Registry and would be thrilled to add another 400 poets, so consider this the reach-out suggested by Michele. Many thanks for all of the kind words offered in my direction. I truly mean it when I say it is an absolute work of love. I’ve done some massive research projects on major haiku poets in the past few years, and having this kind of information so readily available for so many poets is a researcher’s bonanza. I am especially grateful to learn more about poets whose work has meant so much to me — and to add a face to their name. It makes the worldwide haiku community seem even warmer. So, more, more, more! (Submittal guidelines are at the above link.)

  4. Great resource!
I will be posting myself to the registry as soon as I can find a photo that does me justice.

  5. Excellent.

The Haiku Registry is a superb resource. Many thanks to Billie, who graciously tends to it.

    – Lorin

  6. Excellent, but would would love to see more poets participating/included.
    Perhaps a reach-out?
Billy is very accommodating to work with and she has a keen eye for the best in haiku.
It’s great to have one spot to look up a poet and have a sampling of their chosen, best work.
