Charles Trumbull is Editor-in-Chief of Haikupedia, an integral but independent part of The Haiku Foundation. He began writing and studying haiku in 1991. He served as newsletter editor (1996–2002) and president (2004–2005) of the Haiku Society of America. He was a founder of the Chicago-area haiku club (1996), an organizer of Haiku North America—Chicago (2001) and Haiku North America—Santa Fe (2017), proprietor of Deep North Press (1999-), editor of Modern Haiku 2006–2013, and Honorary Curator of the American Haiku Archives, 2013–2014. Before retirement in 2007 he was an editor at Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc. and earlier was employed by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Inc., and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
