Haiku of the Day for September 2024 features Guest Editor Roland Packer’s collection on the theme of Fresh Starts/Transitions. This is what he has to say by way of introduction to this theme:
September brought to mind fresh starts in the form of the first day of school; the return to work after holidays; and the beginning of Autumn to form the “pillars” of the set. But it is in the second part of the theme, transitions, where I felt there would be opportunities for multiple interpretations to widen the creative scope for haiku poets. Day-to-day, the September collection links and shifts through the poems — the last haiku on September 30th bringing the reader back to the beginning poem for September 1st.
Regretfully, there were many excellent submissions that couldn’t be included within the 30 days to expand the viewpoints of the theme. Thank you to Lynne for the opportunity to be a guest editor, and to all the poets who submitted work which I had the privilege to read.
