Cindy graduated from Old Dominion University, located in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1988 with a BS in Biology. She worked in the medical field as both a Registered Respiratory Therapist and a Registered Vascular Technologist from 1978 to 2002. She then switched careers and currently works in the Engineering Subcontract Management department of a major ship building company on the East Coast. Cindy has been interested in haiku ever since being introduced to it while in the sixth grade. She also dabbles in Chinese brush painting and was a member of the Blue Heron Chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America from 2002 to 2006. Living on a small farm in historic Surry County with her husband, Cindy manages a herd of twenty “fainting” or myotonic goats in an effort to conserve this rare breed.

Awards and Other Honors: Member of the Haiku Society of America since the early 1990’s. Her sumi-e artwork was featured on the cover of the 2004 and 2005 calendars published each year by the Blue Heron Chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America.
