on the line

fall morning
monarchs fly
with the leaves

last freight car
crosses the trestle
loud silence

hawk circles
in sun shafts
leaves drift and turn

midnight swim
a dive from the dock
into the moon

clear evening
snowflakes and stars
ring the moon
