Photos and haiku: Who does this well?
In my Haiku Society of America column this month, I talk about my son’s first poems — poems that he “wrote” at 2 and 3 years old. One of them was inspired by Patricia Donegan’s book, Haiku.
The other small poem was paired with a photo. I know that there is a rich tradition of combining haiku with photos. Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can learn about artists who do this well?
Thank you!
Gene

Hi, Gene, Don’t forget to check in with Haiga On Line… Linda does a marvelous job of presenting haiga in all it’s forms and each month is an exploration.
Randy Brooks’s site has some good stuff by Michael Welch, Lee Gurga, Anne Davidson, Garry Gay (professional photographer and excellent poet), and others. Worth a look. Of course, the whole Brooks Books site is worth a browse.

Dear Gene, I enjoyed your column and your son’s first poems! As a former teacher, I can well imagine how excellent haiku would be in helping children learn to read.
About haiku and photos: there’s a lot of interesting and excellent art in the Haiga WordPress tag.
Thank you,
Ellen
