Per Diem for October 2020: Sky
Per Diem: Daily Haiku for October 2020 features Lyn Reeves’ collection on the theme of ‘Sky’. This is what Lyn has to say by way of an introduction to this theme:
Constantly present and constantly changing, sky accompanies us throughout our lives, but this expanse that continually swirls around us often goes unnoticed, its variations and vagaries unobserved.
In this month’s selection of haiku you will find glimpses of the many ways the poets represented have recorded their sense of connection with this overarching element. Their words evoke wonder, longing, celebration, recording moments that take us out of ourselves and our everyday concerns, invite us to look up and, in the words of Mary Oliver in her poem “Sometimes”:
“Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”
Thank you to all the fine poets who have allowed me to feature their haiku in this month’s per diem.
