i have a favorite book I would like to nominate. It is called: OVERCOME: My Life in Pursuit of A Dream, By Ellamae Simmons, M.D.
Ellamae wrote, “Medicine has been the whole goal and purpose of my being. My parents taught me that the only way you can improve the world is to first improve yourself. You must have something to offer, something the world needs that only you can provide. If you do this, they said, you cannot fail.” Ellamae became the only Allergist in all of Califfornia. Her story is a grippping story of facing racial biases, and denials of one kind or another because of her color, IN PURSUIT OF A DTREAM.
