Nominate Your Favorite Book for a 2026 Touchstone Award
The Touchstone Distinguished Books Award for 2026 is  open for nominations — thanks to the authors and publishers who have already nominated books. The awards are bestowed annually on published collections or works of scholarship that represent significant contributions to English-language haiku. Collections that are solely tanka are not eligible. Our distinguished panel includes poets, editors and scholars.
Please submit your nominations right now, and no later than year’s end. Any English-language book or other book-length production that is of or about haiku (and related forms) published during 2026 are eligible for the awards. E-books are eligible as well!
Current and past award-recipients are showcased in the Touchstone Archive.
You can find more information on eligibility and how to submit books on the Touchstone Book Award page.
We look forward to seeing your 2026 publications soon!

Dear Alan,
Thanks for your comment & question. As you wrote, an individual may nominate their own collection and publishers also nominate collections on behalf of their authors. And, yes, indeed individuals in our haiku community may nominate a fellow poet’s collection!
It’s super that the next Pan Haiku will highlight some of the excellent books coming out this year!
Warm regards,
Bruce
That’s great, it never seemed clear that anyone could nominate a haiku collection by another person!
I’ll have to put another thinking cap on and see out of the many, how I can nominate just one, yikes! (smiles)
Many thanks, as always, for your clarification.
Alan
Dear Bruce,
When I read “Nominate Your Favorite Book for a 2026 Touchstone Award” I get excited that we can nominate one of the books of the year, in our opinion, by other authors. That’s a big thing for many of us, and yet, is this award ONLY if someone has brought out a book of their own?
If that’s the case, I see it as a lost opportunity.
Especially as the next Pan Haiku Review has a lot of book reviews this time and very exciting ones, as do other journals that feature book reviews.
Alan
