Nominate a Book for a 2018 Touchstone Award

The Touchstone Distinguished Books Award for 2018 is now open for nominations. The awards, generally considered the highest honor in the haiku field, are bestowed annually on published collections or works of scholarship that represent significant contributions to English-language haiku. Collections must be comprised primarily of haiku, or must discuss haiku as its primary focus. Our distinguished panel is comprised of poets, editors and scholars.

Any English-language book or other book-length production that is of or about haiku (and related forms) published during 2018 is eligible for the award. You may nominate your own book(s), in which case please remit 2 copies before December 31, 2018 to

Current and past award-recipients are showcased in the Touchstone Archive.

So if they are your books, then two copies of each book. Although you mention its books that you have purchased.
      .
So if you do mean books by other authors that you like, then if they were published this year (2018), you could approach the authors, and check if they are going to enter the Touchstone Awards.
      .
I think it would be great if authors received emails telling them how much we enjoyed their books, and that they should enter the award. I think it’s up to the author themselves though if they enter and submit two copies.

Although I do love the idea of a fan buying two copies and sending them off! 🙂

      1. Dear Debra Sasak Ross,
        .
I’m not part of the Touchstone nomination process, although I was in the past part of the mentoring board on the forums side of this organisation.
        .
If your book is comprised primarily of haiku, or discusses haiku as its primary focus then may I wish you good luck for the award.
        .
All the details that you need are above.
        .
        warmest wishes,
        Alan

    1. Dear Martha

      “Moon on Water”
      by Brendon Kent
will be submitted to nominations by
Kim Richardson, editor of Alba Publishing.
      .
However, I’m quite sure Brendon would be glad if you nominated a favorite poem in his collection to the “poetry” category of touchstone nominations.
Please contact him prior as some poems in “moon on water” were previously published prior to 2018.

      Exciting times for haiku!
      .
      Jan Benson
