Matching Grant Fundraiser Off to a Great Start

The Haiku Foundation annual Matching Grant Fundraising, which runs from Thanksgiving Day through St. Nicholas’ Day (December 6) is off to a great start. Thanks to the largesse of Fund Challengers Roberta Beary, Kristen Deming and Anonymous, we are offering a triple matching grant opportunity. This means for every dollar you contribute to the Foundation during this time period, two additional dollars will be contributed by these benefactors. At this point, only hours into the program, we have topped a thousand dollars.

This will help us not only to pay for the services you already have come to expect from the Foundation—the Haiku Registry, the HaikuNow! Contest, the Touchstone Awards, the THF Forums and Troutswirl Blog, the online library, and much more—but also to initiate projects that will benefit the entire haiku community, such as National Haiku Poetry Day (April 17), with readings scheduled across the country in more than 20 venues; the inauguration of The Haiku Foundation Video Archive, featuring interviews and readings from the most distinguished poets working in the genre; the origination of the Haiku Hall of Fame; and many others.
