It’s Not Too Early to Nominate Haibun for a Touchstone Award!

Nominations are now open for the Touchstone Awards for Individual Haibun!

Please send us two of your favorite haibun, one of which may be your own. Nominated haibun must have been published for the first time in 2023 and may have appeared in a book, print or online journal, or the results of a haibun contest. The Touchstones are awards, not contests, so only work published in these ways is eligible.

We invite you to participate using our online form. Please note, this is the only way to submit nominations! Do not post haibun in the Comments.

Nominations will be accepted through December 31. The form will ask you to provide the full text of each nominated haibun, along with complete citations: journal name plus volume and issue number, or complete citation of the contest with a link to results if possible (and please, no acronyms!). If the haibun has special formatting that isn’t possible with the Google form, please include a detailed note after the text, in the same form field. Work by the award coordinator and panelists is not eligible for consideration.

In addition to your nominations, we have also solicited nominations from journal editors.

You can find more information about the award, eligibility, and this year’s panel at the Touchstone Haibun Awards information page.

You can read past awarded haibun and panelists’ commentaries in the Touchstone Award archive. (2022 was the first year we offered awards for individual haibun.)

We look forward to receiving your nominations!
