Haiku Tribute Challenge May 5
For May’s Per Diem feature on The Haiku Foundation website Carlos Colón has selected poems written as tributes to fellow haiku poets, but without indicating who the recipient of the tribute is. We challenge you to identify the poet being honored today, May 5. Read the Per Diem poem, then send us the name of who you think is the honoree in the comment box below. All recipients, and identifiers, will be revealed at the end of the month. Good luck!

I wish I’d elaborated a bit more.
There is a delightful posting here about hydrangeas and the name hortensia:
http://blog.catherinedelors.com/hydrangeas-queen-hortense-hortensias/
It seems the plant was first named in China by a French naturalist, who gave it the botanical name Hortensia opuliodes, the French word for hydrangea is still hortensia.
Thank you for your feedback, Carlos. What a nice idea for a Per Diem collection.
Kris Kondo’s haiku for Hortensia Anderson is beautiful. Thanks, Sandra, for your note that adds more meaning.
Sandra is correct.
