Haiku Tribute Challenge May 31
For May’s Per Diem feature on The Haiku Foundation website Carlos Colón has selected poems written as tributes to fellow haiku poets, but without indicating who the recipient of the tribute is. We challenge you to identify the poet being honored today, May 31. Read the Per Diem poem, then send us the name of who you think is the honoree in the comment box below. All recipients, and identifiers, will be revealed at the end of the month. Good luck!

domo Lorin-san, (maybe a good guess) this would be a fun pub game. Tho’ for the life of me I couldn’t figure out most of them…
Cheers,
Patrick
I thought of Cid Corman
By chance I reread the book as an ancient paperback last summer. Was in a summer cabin bookshelf — left for summer visitors on rain/fog days. Again, it was wonderful … often very “poetic.” Snow leopard — seen only when it wants to be.
Yes, Patrick-san, I’ll lay odds you’re right. 😉
Even I read that book , and decades before I’d even heard of haiku. 🙂

Summers-san,
Perhaps this haiku deals with the passing of Peter Matthiessen.
Cheers,
Patrick
Can anyone guess whom the haiku is in memory of:
finally united
with your snow leopard
flutter of prayer flags
