Haiku of the Day Theme for April 2026: Peace

It is not the best of times when peace means the absence of war. With that warless state of peace looking more and more improbable for us to see in this lifetime, the least we can do for ourselves, and for the world, is look for peace within ourselves. In an uprising of sorts, let’s go on a journey inward, touching upon only that which is real and everlasting, letting every illusion fall by the wayside, and find with gratitude, a destination at every pause. Perhaps, then, over time, the earth will again be inhabited by human beings.

These haiku mark every pause that we might indulge in while on our way. As you read each poem, you may be alone on that path at that moment, but in the larger journey, know that there are others, too, who will one day hold in their hearts the only conquest that matters.

The Haiku of the Day feature displays a new haiku each day at the top of our home page. See also our Haiku of the Day Archive.
