Haiku Music Challenge 7

Welcome to the seventh iteration of the Haiku Music Challenge, hosted by Naviar Records.

The haiku we published last week for our music challenge was awarded “Best Haiku, Canada” in the 2017 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku Invitational:

Debbie Strange is an internationally published short form poet, haiga artist, and photographer. She maintains a publication and awards archive on her blog, where you can also find hundreds of haiga and reviews of her books.

Out of the seventeen evocative compositions inspired by this haiku, here are three that I found particularly inspiring::

Artist: Tunnelwater
Genre: electronic, ambient

Tunnelwater joined our music challenge just recently and I’m truly impressed by the consistency and quality of his compositions. In this track, various loops of instruments playing downward moving melodies are layered to try to musically mimic the image of slowly falling petals.

Artist: Boson Spin
Genre: ambient

With his evocative and calming piece, Australian artist Boson Spin takes us on a 10-minute sonic journey through ethereal soundscapes.
 

Track: transience
Artist: Robert Knote
Genre: classical

Compared to the previous two submissions, Robert Knote had a totally different approach: his piece is more vibrant, as if to represent the energy within transient moments.
