Haiku Music Challenge 35

Welcome to the thirty-fifth iteration of the Haiku Music Challenge, hosted by Naviar Records.

Given recent events in the (no more) Kurdish-held territories, last week I opted for a war haiku. Julien Vocance published Cent visions de guerre (A Hundred Visions of War) in 1916. From the battlefield of World War I, this French soldier decided to express his emotions of life in the trenches in the form of haiku.

bursts from our guns

the town on the horizon

a brief vision of light

Fifteen tracks were inspired by this poem. Here are some of my favourites:

Track: war and a brief vision of light
Artist: Daniel Diaz
Genre: instrumental

Track: bursts from our guns
Artist: Night Note
Genre: ambient

Track: Kriegsgebiet
Artist: Gegend
Genre: electronic

Thank you for listening. Next week we’ll be listening to music inspired by a haiku by Basho:

Whenever I speak
My lips are / chilled
Autumn wind.

The deadline to submit your track is 30 October. To find out more and participate, please visit the Naviar Records site.

    1. Well-said Aju M. and thank you for offering a visual. I probably inserted the flash at a different points than you. It made the experience deeper. Both tracks chosen were quite different. I will listen to all 15 this time.
