Haiku Music Challenge 101

Welcome to The Haiku Foundation’s 101st Haiku Music Challenge, sponsored by Naviar Records!

Tina Mowrey is a picture book author, poet, and 8th grade English Language Arts teacher. She has several published picture books and her haiku will appear in upcoming issues of Cicada’s Cry, Mayfly, and Poetry Pea.

in the confident
silence of daybreak
fading stars and me

Ten tracks were made in response to Tina Mowrey’s haiku, and here’s my selection for The Haiku Foundation:

Track: In The Confident Silence Of Daybreak
Artist: Adrian Lane
Genre: piano

Here’s a short, poignant piano piece by Adrian Lane which perfectly fits with the haiku’s nature.

Track: fading stars
Artist: How the Night Came
Genre: post-rock

An unusual entry to our music challenge: a post-rock song reminiscent of Mogwai and Toe’s atmospheres, by How the Night Came.

Track: Daybreak
Artist: mikey_a
Genre: electronic

Lastly, here’s an evocative electronic soundscape by Australian composer mikey_a.

Thank you for listening. Next week we’ll feature music inspired by haiku by Ishida Hakyō:

wind and clouds
playing just a little —
winter solstice
