Haiku in honor of the Jersey Shore after its recent fire
The New Jersey Shore had yet another setback after this week’s fire tore through 50 Seaside Heights businesses. This is of course just one year after Hurricane Sandy. According to NJ.com, this second blow was even more devastating to the town than the storm.
I was thinking it would be nice to share boardwalk, beach and shore haiku in the town’s honor. I’ll start us off. I hope we can get a number of them going here.
Thank you,
Gene

after the fire
reincarnation
father holds me
high
above the waves
beach fireworks
we share our last
salt water taffy
painting the morning
with beauty and hope
watercolor sky
working the ice cream
we walk all the way back
to yesterday

summer’s end ….
my resistence drowned
in the tunnel of love
Jersey shore
we can still depend
on the tides
angry flames
lick the sky, the ocean
hurries away
we walk the boardwalk hand in hand
sharing ice cream
headaches
Jersey Shore —
even a stuffed shark
is homeless
ice cream and fire…
hearts melt
once again
wind and fire –
the sound of moonlight
close to shore
sirens
cry of gulls
circle
beach plum …
I know by heart this path
to the sea
