Shamrock temporarily moved to a new site but has now returned to the old one

Dear All,

Our magazine, Shamrock, has recently moved to a new website at http://shamrockhaiku.hostei.com, however this site was unable to cope with the amount of visitors we got when our new issue, No 27, went online. The provider limits the number of visitors to 2.500 per day. We apparently exceeded that number on the day when our No 27 got published, which resulted in further visitors getting an error message when they visited the site.

So we decided to move back to where we started. Our old website at http://shamrockhaiku.webs.com is now up and running. The website at http://shamrockhaiku.hostei.com has a redirect to our main site.

Our new issue (No 27) is available for viewing at http://shamrockhaiku.webs.com/currentissue.htm. Submissions for Shamrock are now open at http://greensubmissions.com/112/shamrock-haiku-journal/terms.php.

Best wishes to all,

The Shamrock team

Just as an FYI, your old (webs) site is the first result in Google, and doesn't seem to be totally off-line: https://www.google.com/search?q=shamrock+haiku&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

I got a blank screen when I clicked on the main page, but clicking on "submission guidelines" still got me into a working version of your old submission guidelines page.

It might be a good idea (if you haven't already) to just place a redirect notice on every page on the webs site.

1. "Old site is the first result in Google."

What do you think we can do about it?

The old site isn't functioning properly. Some pages are showing up, some don't. Redirect notices have been there from the very day we switched to the new site but they aren't working. This is not our fault but our provider's. They've already written to us apologising for the mess they've created. Let's see if they can sort it out.

An update: some of the redirects are actually working now but the others aren't. E.g. the front page one.

For the first, it's probably just a wait-and-see thing.

I searched again now, and the first result is the hostei site.  All the rest are webs results.

Can you just delete your webs site altogether?  Almost none of the webs links work, mind you, so it might just be a matter of waiting it out here, too. :)

http://shamrockhaiku.webs.com is working properly now. We'll stick with it for now.

As for http://shamrockhaiku.hostei.com, we'll probably keep it as a mirror site. It is having a downtime at the moment.
