oooooooooooooooooooooooooo

By chance I found this page in the morning, and want to share some with you here.

I feel like sitting
in the hands of the Big Buddha  -
basking in the winter sun

daibutsu no te ni aru omoi hinataboko
Takaha Shugyo

. . . . .

daibutsu no kata hada no yuki toke ni keri

on one shoulder
of the Great Buddha
the snow has thawed ...

Masaoka Shiki

. . . . .

There are a few famous huge statues of Buddha in Japan, some in temples, some outside, some chisled in cliffs ...

Basho, Issa, Shiki and other poets visited them and even today, thousands combine tourism with the feeling of the presece of a higher power ...

Many temples have a haiku box near the entry, where people can write a haiku and drop it. The temple will publish it in a monthly magazine.

More about the Big Buddha Haiku is here for now
http://wkdfestivalsaijiki.blogspot.com/2007/06/daibutsu-and-hotoke.html

The Saijiki category observances lists many names of temples and shrines in variuos kigo
details are here

Do you have any haiku about a religious statue of your region to share?
It could be inside a church or temple, or outside, for example a sait on a public well (Brunnenheiliger) or other.

I just wrote a haiku about Buddha statues on stamps the other day

Do you have a favorite statue or painting with a religious theme and a haiku about it?
Gabi.

Gabi Greve

how do you insert an image?

You have to use an image which is already online somewhere, in a BLOG or a Photo album like FlickR.

copy the HTML of the image here and use the icon for "insert image", the first little one below the B to add the image code:

  without the
  •   it reads "img" and at the end "/img"

    That should do it.

    Gabi.

I am a spiritualist who is born a christian; studied hinduism, buddhisim, natural and aboriginal religions.
I am moved by religious imagery from many religions. In this image I present the turtle as the universe the cosmic consciousness is represented as the eye of the creator, in which the maddona sits in a buddhist pose.
the text I placed with it addresses beginning and is about my personal relationship with my mother who gave birth to me on april 16.

Hi Gabi,

I like the haiku and image by Isabelle Prondzynski. I've made several attempts to write haiku about stained glass, but I haven't quite gotten where I wanted to. Isabelle does it.

Hi David,

Here's a stained glass haiku from my wife:
