SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please send around 10 poems/artwork. Previous issues of hedgerow are available to view online. The print issues can be purchased here.

hedgerow is a short-poetry journal dedicated to publishing an eclectic mix of new & established voices across the spectrum of the short poem, with particular attention to the constantly evolving forms of English-language haiku, senryu, tanka, haiga & haibun. Submissions of prose poems, other longer poems & sequences, as well as short stories also welcome. Please note—for consistency, the house style will inform both print & online presentation.

THE QUARTERLY PRINT JOURNAL

The aim is to publish one print issue of the journal every quarter; with a seasonal flavour. Please familiarise yourself with the journal before submitting. PLEASE NOTE—SUBMISSIONS ARE ACCEPTED ON A ROLLING BASIS. Submission reminders will be emailed out ahead of each issue. If you are not currently on the mailing list, simply send an email with the subject heading 'subscribe' to hedgerowsubmission@gmail.com

UNDER 16S

If you are under 16 with small poems or art to share, please send around 10 pieces to—hedgerowsubmission@gmail.com, with 'under 16s' in the subject line. Permission from a parent or guardian required if your work is selected for publication. Work will be accepted on a rolling basis for publication in the online journal.

vines

A new section of the journal focusing solely on collaborative poetry, sequences & linked verse poems (collaborative or solo). Articles welcomed. Work will be accepted on a rolling basis for publication in the online journal. A minimum of three poems per submission strongly advised. UPDATE—THIS SECTION OF THE JOURNAL IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR SUBMISSIONS.

OTHER ONLINE FEATURES

Occasionally we accept ebooks, articles & other features to be showcased online for a limited period.

We do not send out rejections. You will only hear from us if & when your work has been selected for publication. Submissions are stored for one month unless otherwise stated.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, as long as you notify us when a piece has been accepted elsewhere.

Work previously published on social media permitted. However, please make a note of this in your email.

Any artwork submitted should be at least 300dpi. Please no borders/frames & preferably without signature. The artist's name will be printed under the artwork.

Poems or images generated by artificial intelligence not accepted.

Send your submission to: hedgerowsubmission@gmail.com with 'SUBMISSION' in capital letters followed by your name, in the subject line. Please no attachments, except for images (jpeg preferred), rather copy & paste your poems into the body of the email.

Thank you!

a note regarding publication rights

All rights revert to the respective author/artist upon publication. hedgerow retains the right to republish work either digitally or in print. No work featured here may be used, copied, sold or distributed elsewhere without the permission of the copyright holder.
