Hi, Mentors!

I was wondering of days of the week could function as kigo, but I'm guessing they can't?  If kigo function to bring emotion and shared experiences to the poem, and certain days of the week (ex Monday morning) bring shared emotion, that would seem to be a similarity. They don't convey any season reference, though, so I'm guessing that disqualifies them. (except for things like Ash Wednesday or Fat Tuesday etc) :P

hi Bea

You could check Gabi's kigo database but I very much doubt the normal days of the week can be kigo, or even seasonal references. Mondays as in I hate Mondays can be emotional triggers though?

Hello Bea ...

They may work as a keyword but not as a kigo.  :)

Dear Bea and all,

as you mention yourself,
Days of the week : They don't convey any season reference,

so they are not kigo, but keywords, as Don mentioned.

There are however many special days in a year, which relate to
public and religious holidays and seasonal festivals, and
memorial days for famous people or events.

Please check the World Kigo Database for the details.
