Hello All

It is my pleasure to be the new secretary of the United Haiku & Tanka Society. I have been practicing haiku and writing Japanese short form poetry for five years. It has become my daily meditation and has encouraged me to slow down and experience the small wonders around me. I will give my all to filling the impeccable shoes of Iliyana in continuing the good work of the secretary position.

The April 2019 issue of cattails, the bi-annual journal of the United Haiku and Tanka Society is now available online.

It showcases haiku, tanka, senryu, haiga and haibun by poets from around the globe. The  dedicated Youth Corner has a retrospective overview of the last six years. We carry tributes to two poets, Dr Johannes Manjrekar (India) and Martha Magenta (UK). This issue features photos of birds from New Zealand by Sandra Simpson and marks the return of Paresh Tiwari, the resident cartoonist with the first of a new series.

The next issue is October 2020. Submissions open: 1st July (midnight) GMT and close: 31st July (midnight) GMT. Please note our new, shorter submission window.
