tsuri-doro - A small journal of haiku and senryu (online)

We will be accepting submissions for the Nov/Dec 2022 Issue #12 from Sept. 1st, 2022 through Sept. 15th, 2022.

PLEASE NOTE: We have placed a MORATORIUM on submissions of haiga/endpieces and art/photography for the sidebar.

1. Submit all work via email to:
submissions@tsuridoro.org

2. Haiku/Senryū:
– Please submit no more than ten (10) – five (5) preferred – pieces of unpublished work at a time.
– Please submit all poetry work in the body of the email; NO attachments please.
– Please put author's name and submission date, (in international date format – yyyy-mmdd), in the Subj. Line – making sure that the author's name is the name the piece should be attributed to.
Subj. Line: Jane Doe – Submission of 2022-0701

3. Endpiece Moratorium:
– Once again, due to the incredible outpouring of material, we have placed a moratorium on the submission of material for endpiece consideration.
– The inclusion of an "issue endpiece" came about organically and unplanned as the first two issues featured haiga as endpieces that were not part of the original layout.
– We ask that haiga/endpiece submissions (when the moratorium is lifted) be submitted AS attachments please.

4. Sidebar Moratorium:
– In a similar vein, we have placed a moratorium on the submission of photography or art for consideration as the issue sidebar.
– We ask that sidebar submissions (when the moratorium is lifted) be submitted AS attachments please.

We will try to respond to ALL submissions within a few weeks' time.

We will be publishing six online issues a year: Jan/Feb; March/April; May/June; July/Aug; Sept/Oct and Nov/Dec.

At this time, unfortunately, due to publishing and, more emphatically, shipping costs – our thoughts of publishing a printed "Editor's Choice" issue once a year have been put on hold. Print remains, though, our favorite medium.

Journal Announcements / Bones Journal - closed
June 12, 2022, 04:30:28 AM
Bones - a journal for the short poem

Short poems incl. hai/ku (but don't send tradtional/mainstream haiku, please).
Minimal haibun/gembun with a maximum of 30 words in the prose.
Minimal/ist poetry.
One-line poetry/monostich.
Micropoetry.
Short verse. Max. 15 lines.
NO-SCI-FI
NO CHERITA
NO TANKA
NO "FOUND" POETRY
NO ERASURE/REMIX poetry. It's stealing!
Visual Art only by invitation.
If in doubt, read a few of the previous issues

Published/not published:

Bones does not accept previously published work(s). Bones considers works having been through an editorial process (by someone else than the author him/herself) as published. Works published on social media or private blogs are not considered published.

Bones is not a literary journal, so we don't read or publish essays and academic texts.
Bones doesn't accept work under consideration elsewhere.

All works must original.

We advise any new submitters to read a few issues of the journal to get acquainted with what kind of haiku/writing BONES is all about.

DON'T send your bio. IF you have read any of the previous issues you will see that Bones focuses on the poem rather than the poet. Bones is not interested in where you have been published, of past merits. What counts is the work you submit. (and Bones doesn't care how many cats you have or what dietary plan you cling to).

Keep your submission simple!!!

Avoid all superfluous information in your attached document. Click here to see the "ideal" attached document. Name your attached file with your own name.

Send a maximum of 10 single haiku or poems or minimal haibun/gembun and/or 2 series/sequences of maximum 5 haiku.

Submission Deadlines:

February 1st - February 28th for the April 1st issue
August 1st - August 31st for the October 1st issue

Submissions: submission (at) bonesjournal (dot) com

with "Submission to bones" in the subject line

Please send your works only as ATTACHMENTS and not in the body of the email. Email formatting easily gets lost when transferred into the programs I use to make the journal. I take doc, docx, rtf, odt - please avoid sending "pages" files (Mac) and pdf.

Please make sure that your name and email address is in the attached doucment.

The Living Haiku Anthology team welcomes contributions of previously published haiku for inclusion in its ever-expanding online repository of international haiku. It is expected that each poet offering their work for inclusion submit a minimum of five (5) haiku to give readers some sense of the poet's style, range and content.
