Submissions
The journal will be open to submissions throughout February for the Spring issue, and August for the Autumn issue. Poems will be considered only at these times, and only one submission (of up to 10 poems, each shorter than 14 lines, generally speaking) should be made during a reading period. Please read the freely available online issues and/or NOON: An Anthology of Short Poems before submitting some of your best work, which should be previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.

Poems should be sent in the body of the email or Word file and in PDF to Philip Rowland: noonpress [at] me [dot] com. In the PDF file, line spacing and layout of the poems should be exactly as you would wish them to appear. Expected response time: 2-4 weeks.

Issue 23 of NOON: journal of the short poem has just been published online. As usual, it is freely available, includes many haiku, is designed to be read in issuu book format (full screen mode) or PDF (two page view), and the poems are arranged so that each is linked to the next in a long chain.

If you like what you read, and don't already have a copy of the 2019 anthology of poems drawn from earlier (print as well as online) issues, please click on the link below for book description and ordering information:

Supporting the journal in this way is very helpful.

The next window for submissions will be July-August. (Annually: Jan-Feb, July-Aug.)

NOON is open to submissions for the summer issue until the end of May. Poems should be previously unpublished (in print or online) and not under consideration elsewhere. Please send 5-15 haiku or other short poems (each shorter than 14 lines) in the body of the email and, if possible, in PDF. Expected response time: up to one month.

As mentioned on the homepage, the hope is to publish, every few years, a selection of poems from the online issues in printed book form. (See below for the link to the first anthology, published in 2019.)

Hello — I hope this finds you well. The reading-window for the next issue of NOON: journal of the short poem (to be published online in the autumn) is the month of August. Submissions are welcome, though please keep in mind that poems should be previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere; also, please send no more than ten poems (each shorter than 14 lines) in the body of the email as well as in PDF, if possible, to noonpress [at] mac [dot] com. Line spacing and layout of the poems should be exactly as you'd like them to appear. The journal is open to a wide range of short poetry (with an emphasis on the innovative/exploratory), but it would be a good idea to have read (and liked) some of the journal before selecting and sending work. Please also consider supporting the journal by ordering a copy of NOON: An Anthology of Short Poems, published in 2019 by Isobar Press (Tokyo & London). The book consists of a selection of poems from the journal from 2004 to 2017, including the early, limited edition print issues, so is an ideal introduction and sampler. See https://isobarpress.com/titles/noon-an-anthology-of-short-poems/ for more details and links to order.

All the best,

Philip

For those interested not only in haiku but also other short poetry, the latest issue of NOON (#16) can be found here:
https://noonpoetry.com/issues/
I'd also like to mention again the related anthology, published in 2019, NOON: An Anthology of Short Poems, which includes well over a hundred haiku as well as other short poems selected from Issues 1-13 of the journal; the contents sequenced, renga-like, from start to finish. The book is published by Isobar Press, a small press focused on English-language writing from Japan. Excerpts from reviews and links to ordering the book online can be found here: https://isobarpress.com/titles/noon-an-anthology-of-short-poems/

Submissions for the next (Feb./March, 2020) issue of NOON: journal of the short poem are welcome until 15th December. Please send up to 10 haiku or other short poems in the body of the email and, if possible, in PDF: see https://noonpoetry.com/guidelines/. To read recent issues: https://noonpoetry.com/issues/. Please also consider ordering the anthology published earlier this year:
https://isobarpress.com/titles/noon-an-anthology-of-short-poems/
and so also supporting Isobar Press, a small press publishing English-language writing from Japan.

All the best,
Philip

Two new issues of NOON: journal of the short poem (14 and 15) have appeared this month and are available online: see https://noonpoetry.com/issues/ Each issue is arranged as a chain of poems and designed to be read in Issuu book format, full screen mode. Earlier in the year, an anthology of selections from all previous issues was published in print: NOON: An Anthology of Short Poems: see https://isobarpress.com/titles/noon-an-anthology-of-short-poems/. Please consider supporting the journal and the press by ordering a copy of the anthology if you can. Almost half of the contents are haiku or closely related; these 'converse' with other varieties of short poems.

The window for submissions for the next (winter) issue will be November 2019.

All the best,
Philip Rowland

NOON: An Anthology of Short Poems, which consists of selections (with plenty of haiku) from the issues of NOON published between 2004 and 2017 (including the rare, early print issues), has just been published by Isobar Press. The link below leads to a book description, ordering information and an excerpt with my introduction to the book. Please take a look and consider supporting the press by buying a copy, and if you could spread the word or let me know if a publication you're involved with might be interested in reviewing the book, that would be very helpful! https://isobarpress.com/titles/noon-an-anthology-of-short-poems/

Submissions of haiku and other short poems (of less than 14 lines) are invited, until the end of May, for the next issue of NOON: journal of the short poem, which will appear in June or July 2019. Please send up to ten previously unpublished poems in a Word or Pages attached file, to noonpress@mac.com. Links to previous online issues can be found at https://noonpoetry.com/issues/, where there's also an image of earlier print issues, a few of which are still available directly from me. In addition, an anthology of selected poems from all previous issues will be published by Isobar Press in mid-late May — further information will appear on its homepage in due course: https://isobarpress.com.
