I was just curious if anyone has and would like to sell or maybe trade for a copy of Scott Metz's first chapbook, The Youngest Ones (tribe press). I have all his other books and would love this one. Unfortunately, it's not on the Haiku Foundation Digital Library to read.

Other Haiku News / Otoroshi Journal still active?
January 20, 2023, 07:25:58 AM
Just wondering if anyone has any info about Otoroshi. I know there was an announcement sent out at the end of November about some medical issues (hope these issues are better) delaying the new issue. January is another submission time for them, but after sending haiku in July and October with no response, I'm wondering if I should send this time. I've also sent an email asking about the status of the journal with no response. Love the journal which is why I'm curious what is going on with it...

Dear Poets of Heliosparrow and beyond,

Heliosparrow Poetry Journal is holding a Semagrams Mayday Poetry Contest! We aren't quite sure what semagrams are, and we invite your explorations and discoveries. Semagrams invoke a circularity of time, by using short-form poetry styles and techniques. Hopefully, some of the ideas and examples presented in the explanatory text attached will interest and inspire you.

Our contest runs from today May Day through May 31.

Attached to this letter, please see:
"Heliosparrow_Semagrams_Poetry_Contest_May_1-31.docx"

You are welcome to send as many semagrams as you like. If you have a special formatting or layout, please send a Word document or PDF with your letter.

Everyone is welcome to share the attached Word document and to forward this letter: we'd like to reach as many poets as possible.

Send your Semagrams to Heliosparrow Poetry Journal at:
helios.sparrow@gmail.com
Please put "Semagrams" in the Subject line

First Prize, $50.00, and all winners will be published.

Thank you for your time, and as always, for your poetry,

Richard Gilbert, Clayton Beach, editors
Heliosparrow Poetry Journal

P.S. There is a word file that came with the email that goes into more detail, but for some reason I couldn't copy it or add it as an attachment. I'm sure if you contact Richard or Clayton, they'd send it to you. I believe my email is listed in the haiku registry so if you contact me I'll send you the doc.

Other Haiku News / Scott Metz New book out!
March 19, 2022, 12:29:19 PM
I check Red Moon Press from time to time to see new books coming out and was surprised to see that Scott Metz has a new one. You can order it here: https://redmoonpress.com/product/eas-e-haiku-of-scott-metz/
If you've read his work than you know what to expect, though I image he has gotten even more exploratory since "lakes & now wolves". I'm looking forward to it. Since is/let is gone I figured I'd let everyone know. Seems like this book should be promoted everywhere...but where/how do you a promote book in the haiku world? Anyway, can't wait to get my copy and congratulations to Scott!

The forum seems kind of dead so I was just curious what everyone reads to get in the mood to write haiku? Before I started writing haiku I used to read mostly fiction and music bios, but since writing/publishing haiku I read mostly haiku. I'm thinking lately I need to widen my reading to open up my haiku so it doesn't become to formulaic.

I've submitted to Bones Haiku and haven't gotten a response yet (I did get an acknowledgement of my submission). The next issue comes out March 15 so while I was feeling good about my submissions, as time goes by I start to worry. I was wondering if anyone is familar with their response time. Also, it's been about four weeks since I submitted to Tinywords with no response. Their website says they respond within a couple weeks. So I'm just curious if anyone knows a little more about how the response time usually works for Bones and Tinywords.
Thanks.
