A man glad to do the work, happy in nature.
Sowing his seed in broad daylight, almost dancing in it.
Perhaps he's just left the brothel?

Invitation to submit to Blithe Spirit

Dear friends

Blithe Spirit, the haikai journal, as you know, accepts only submissions from members of The British Haiku Society. The only exception is when the Editor makes an exception and invites submission from non-member(s).

As the editor of Blithe Spirit, I am making that exception for just the next issue ONLY, the first issue of 2018, which will carry a small section of works from non-members. I invite all non-members to submit your work for consideration. Here are the rules

Only HAIKU and TANKA may be submitted

Only up to THREE Unpublished poems per non-member

Please send your poems to Blithespirit.editor@gmail.com
Subject line for the email should have "NON-MEMBER SUBMISSION"

Deadline is 1 January 2018.

A maximum of one poem may be accepted from non-members, and only the creme de la creme. So send in your very best. I will respond to submissions from all non-members after the deadline. And please do share with your friends/ groups on and offline and spread the message and opportunity. Thanks

Submissions by members will be considered as per usual. There are no changes to the submission guidelines for members of the society.

I have withheld submitting to cattails, until I knew I could access my previous publishing credits of the old cattails publications.

Will be glad to have those notations and pdf versions in my files.

I know I felt like there was no positive or negative at the time... just remarks.

But Elaine is in the top winners for photo haiku, so it must be ok/good.

I am so very glad for this thread, and also the links to MDW's article on Plagerism/copyright.

Recently, (three times in the last month) images of mine were absconded with.
Two of those were because I trusted the integrity of a friend/poet in private conversation, Workshopping.
The other impunes the integrity of an editor who may have (innocently) tipped a galley copy of an upcoming journal issue to another poet for review.

All very personally hurtful. And lessons learned on my part, for sure.

Can I ask the name of the Issa book you are reading?
You make it sound interesting.

I've tried to read Lanoue's Basho book and had to put it down after 20 pages.

Issa and Buson interest me a lot.

I used to get Lanoue's daily Haiku Hut email, until I had to change my email in January.

For me, using crow babies would lean heavily into humanizing the birds.

Perhaps write from the sound of newly Hatched birds, using cheep it tweet?

It was the Japanese haijin who brought it up.
It was more of a long pause, a tilt of the head, and a direct comment that he recognised the alteration. It sort of just hung in the air. I do think the lady did comment too.

It was obvious and yet subtle.

Just so encouraged.

A regional editor I met last fall (who says she HATES haiku) saw and read this from my post of it on FaceBook.
She put the publication on her newsfeed on the Blog of her own Journal.

And, achem, she is scratching out a Senryu series now.

Just saying. Walls are coming down.
All because I was brave enough to stay with the Poetry Society of Texas (a State Poetry Organization).
Who says haiku poets should not bother with State Organizations?!
