Isn't it ironic that Shiki created haiku from hokku in the belief that it was (along with a revamped tanka) the best bet on salvaging Japanese indigenous art from the onslaught of foreign influences at the turn of the 20th C.
The defense, it turns out, became quite an offense, considering English speaking/writing people subjected themselves as faithfully as they could to what they imagine is Japanese haiku/poetry rather than incorporating it into the English idiom and history of poetry.
What a laugh, no?

Just wanted to let you know John Martone published a book of verse of mine called micron. It is available at lulu for only $5.00, or you can read it online at Scribd or Calameo for free.

I am getting an error message when I click on NFTG 4.1.
It says there is no such document.
I'm assuming it is not connected to the publishing service.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
