Title: A good translation of Basho?
Post by: Bea on January 07, 2011, 05:40:04 PM
I would like to get a copy of Basho's "A Narrow Road to the Interior," but I understand there are many different translations, some better than others.

Could anyone suggest a good author/translator for this book?

Thanks.
Bea

I don't think anyone can recommend just one book.  Most of us have a collection of this haibun and other works.

One book that's praised is Cid's:

You can get this secondhand from Amazon from $6.45 onwards.

Bill gives it a great review on Amazon too!

Enjoy! ;-)
