Title: question
Post by: Darrell on July 27, 2011, 06:22:15 PM
mentors,

Question, is it ok to asign human emotions and/or thoughts to animals in a haiku?
such as "a fish feeling bigger in a small pond". Some internet sites say its ok others say no.

We are leaving los angeles heading to vancouver canada so I will be offline for the next week

Hi Darrell

Have a great time!

Any chance you'll visit Toronto?

Your is two fold.

re the fish I just see that as a saying, a sort of aphorism.

re animals etc I suggest reading up on Issa. Check out David Lanoue (his website and also Daily Issa)  or Robert Hass (Essential Haiku Poets).

Enjoy!

all my best

Alan
