The  contest (English and Bulgarian language) is organized by Shoshin Haiku Circle in honor of Maya Lyubenova (12 September 1956 – 30 December 2016), one of the co-founders. She wrote poetry in both English and Bulgarian and her haiku, senryu, and haiga appeared in some of the most respected international journals.
