Book of the Week: Rain Drips from the Trees

lynchcoverTom Lynch’s early chapbook Rain Drips from the Trees (self-published, 1992) is subtitled “Haibun along the trans-Canadian Highway,” and constitutes an extended travelogue. The sample poems are extracted from these haibun, and so of course are not couched in their intended contexts, but nevertheless exude the same essence as the work at last, which of course you can explore fully at your leisure.

You can read the entire book in the THF Digital Library.

Do you have a chapbook published 2010 or earlier you would like featured as a Book of the Week? Contact us for details.

Haiku featured in the Book of the Week Archive are selected by THF president THF president Jim Kacian, and are used with permission.

a robin sings again in the evening . . . clear sky after rain
the fire smokes as I sleep the wolf exhales
river holds darknesss — a drop of blood glistens on the fishing fly
