Book of the Week: Proposing

Proposing to the WomanJim Tipton has been publishing his strong, earthy haiku for more than 4 decades. This relatively recent book (Modern English Tanka Press, 2008) finds him in fine form and speaking plainly about the things in life that matter to us all, not always the case in poetry.

You can read the entire book in the THF Digital Library.

Do you have a chapbook published 2010 or earlier you would like featured as a Book of the Week? Contact us for details.

Haiku featured in the Book of the Week Archive are selected by Jim Kacian, and are used with permission.

desert path a coyote watches me watch a coyote
in her proud voice you can hear her breasts
honey a single drop on her lower lip
she wakes in the night with her garden still in her hands
alone on Christmas Day looking at snow in the manes of wild horses
Canada geese suddenly in the heart the field takes wing
