Book of the Week: Non Senza Titolo

Our Book of the Week is Non Senza Titolo, by Swedish journalist, photographer, Daniel Gahnertz. It’s not often we see a book of haiku in three languages, but even less often do we see one with an Introduction (by Giorgio Weiss di Valbranca) in one language only. Not reading Italian, I am, like many, unable to read this important message. Gahnertz’s haiku, many of which betray a casual, hit and miss attitude toward structure and theme, are occasionally arresting.

Peak summer boredom –
cars in heat wave
queuing to the sea.

Waves against rocks –
a rottweiler fills the sky
with clouds of gulls.

By the fishing boat
a cat meows without sound –
Mistral headwind.
