Book of the Week: Jaiku: Haiku by Ray Scott
This chapbook has incarceration as its theme. Ray Scott grew up in Woodstock, Ontario and started on his poetic journey in 1970. He has published three other collections of haiku poetry.
Sun warms the wings
after flying near the jail
crimson razor wire
Migration shadows
as I stand staring
from jail
The last six months
should be the fastest.
It is still winter
Along the fence
the gravity of snow
reveals barbed wire

I think it should read ‘incarceration’.
Interesting set of haiku!
Thanks John, I made the correction!
