Book of the Week: into breath

ortiz_intobreathcover

Victor Ortiz’s elegant first book (Red Moon Press, 2002) amalgamates his beautiful black-and-white nature photographs with his ethereal haiku in a meditation on evanescence and relationship.

You can read the entire book in the THF Digital Library.

Do you have a chapbook published 2009 or earlier you would like featured as a Book of the Week? Contact us for details.

Haiku featured in the Book of the Week Archive are selected by Jim Kacian, following a concept first explored by Tom Clausen, and are used with permission.

no reply the call of the foghorn all day
lifting fog the rising sun drips from the power lines
storm clouds leaving the harbor— sunday morning
white clouds in the blue lake— a passing sky
into breath on a cold window a small handprint
winter night my eyes closed to cold ocean winds
