Book of the Week: Birds & Felines

Giselle Maya and June Moreau share this elegant chapbook (Koyama Press, 2007) devoted, as the title says, to some of those creatures that share our space and widen our horizons. Both poets are accomplished observers of animals, and the glint of recognition stalks all these poems. The stunning visual aspects of the production—gilt-speckled laid paper hand-stitched within a hand-made paper cover—is typical of this press.
