Book of the Week: Ash

saito_ashMasaya Saito is best-known for his expert and evocative translation of Saito Sanki’s Kobe Hotel, but this nearly unnoticed short volume of his own work (TELS Press, 1988) carries an elusive and astringent flavor all its own, and well worth cultivating.

You can read the entire book in the THF Digital Library.

New the blue Sky a kite New the circle
An empty plate Smashing it Autumn clearer
Waterless river — I am walking On the bank
Getting colder I too Am shaped
Drawn on the spring Earth a dense Vulva
