Seeking Volunteers for Committees

All Committee members are aligned with the Foundation’s mission and non-discrimination policy. Committee positions are for two-year terms. Each committee may have sub-committees for specific programs and events. The Board of Directors may assign a board liaison to each committee. The Chairperson appoints the Committee Chair(s) and their members with the advice and consent of the Board of Directors.

Budget and Finance Committee

This committee shall consist of a Chairperson and other members as the Chairperson shall appoint. The committee prepares the budget each year for the Board of Directors approval, reviews and makes recommendations on the accounting status periodically and addresses operational cost issues. This committee will also oversee fundraising. The Treasurer shall be the committee Chairperson.

Archives Committee

This committee shall consist of a Chairperson and other members as the Chairperson shall appoint. It shall be responsible for the assessment of the need of, and establishment of, a haiku archive in several formats, including library, online library, database, and others. It will in addition be responsible for establishing its budget.

Awards Committee

This committee shall consist of a Chairperson and other members as the Chairperson shall appoint. It shall be responsible for an assessment of the current awards in the haiku community, and establishing what, if any, role The Haiku Foundation should play in them. Further, it is charged with implementing its own line of awards, based upon criteria it shall develop. It will in addition be responsible for establishing its budget.

Education Committee

This committee shall consist of a Chairperson and other members as the Chairperson shall appoint. It shall be responsible for the assessment of the available haiku educational tools currently available. It is further charged with determining what kinds of materials are most necessary to make available. It will also establish its own budget.

Publications Committee

This committee shall consist of a Chairperson and other members as the Chairperson shall appoint. It shall be responsible for determining what, if any, publications The Haiku Foundation will oversee, including online and print books, periodicals and newsletters. It will in addition be responsible for establishing its budget.

Committee Chairs

The Haiku Foundation Committees are the vehicles through which most of our projects are realized, including planning, short- and long-term strategies of implementation, funding and maintenance. They are staffed by volunteers with a special interest and expertise in the topics they address. We welcome your enquiries.
