Book of the Week: Bare Earth
As the title Bare Earth indicates, Paul Cordeiro’s collection of haiku and tanka, a chapbook from 2013 and our Book of the Week, tends to stay close to home, and to derive its charm from close observations that find unusual angles on the familiar:
full barbershop
the nature strip
needs cutting
backdoor garden
a housefly wipes its feet
inside the lily
autumn quiet
the beagle chews
a bookmark to shreds
You can read the entire book in the THF Digital Library.
Do you have a chapbook published 2010 or earlier you would like featured as a Book of the Week? Contact us for details.
Haiku featured in the Book of the Week Archive are selected by THF Digital Librarian Garry Eaton, and are used with permission.
